NOTE: You must use PermaBond as a primer coat and is purchased separately.
Deck Revive Full Kit Coverage: Depending on the condition of the wood and the application technique, two coats will cover approximately 200 square feet.

Our Deck Revive coating will give you a new durable, scuff, stain and fire-resistant surface that requires zero to little maintenance. So easy to apply with everyday paintbrushes and rollers and tools clean up with water. Dries quickly for minimal time-out-of-service. It can be applied in the morning and enjoyed that evening.
Your Deck Revive kit contains a liquid component and a dry component. To these, you add one gallon of ANY color of exterior latex paint. Color choice is unlimited – you can have any color your paint store can mix up!
Deck Revive is an environmentally-friendly choice. It is water-based, VOC-free and non-toxic. When you refurbish existing wood structures with Deck Revive, you prolong their service life and keep them out of landfills.

So take your shoes off and start enjoying your old deck with our revolutionary resurfacing coating. Your family, friends, and kids can run around splinter free for years to come.
Can I wait a week between power washing and applying products to wait for weather to cooperate?
Yes but no more than 2 weeks and sweep or blow off the deck before applying.
We completed our deck last summer. We now have a few boards that need painted. Do you not sell a smaller container?
Sorry, we do not.
Hi! Where can I purchase this product in Canada?
Online only. We ship to Canada.
can you use this product on a above ground pool deck
As long as it is a wood deck, yes.
To tint permabond, do you use acrylic latex or just latex paint as stated in the instructions?
Don’t tint the Permabond. Use as is for best results.
I have a 192 sq foot deck plus 8 standard stairs and railings. How many kits of deck revive and permabond will I need?
What is the total square footage once you add in the railings and steps?
I think I’ll need a second kit but not much of it, can I save unused product to use for recoats in the future?
Sorry but no. Once mixed it has to be used right away. It is not possible to save it.
Can I use Deck Revive and keep the natural color of the deck?
Sorry but no, that is not possible.
I have a 730sf 6 year old deck in Southern California. How many kits of Deck Revive and Permabond will I need? Also, if I choose a dark chocolate brown color, will the Deck Revive prevent color fading?
You will need 3 of the Deck Revive Kits. Yes, any color that you add to the DR will prevent UV oxidation of the wood.
I spoke with someone yesterday and mentioned that I had some mildew growing on the deck. He had recommended that I clean the deck with a deck cleaner. Is Defy Wood Cleaner and Defy Wood Brightner acceptable to use prior to laying the Perma Bond?
Just pressure wash with water, not need for a cleaner or brightener.
I used Bondo to patch a couple spots on the floor of my deck. Will the Permabond and Deck Revive still work well over the Bondo?
It will but the Bondo itself may fail in the future as it does not work well if you are in an area where it can freeze.
Do you carry a SDS for this product?
Attached.
Do you recommend pre-wetting the roller when applying permabond or the Deck revive?
No.
I have a 30 year old uncapped composite deck and can’t afford to replace it with new material right now. Would Deck Revive adhere to the composite and freshen it up?
Yes. Clean first and apply the Perbond prior to the Deck Revive.
I have a new deck out of redwood and would like to put down a clear protective product similar to this. Do you have a clear product? Do I need to add a paint to this?
No, we do not offer a clear coating. You also cannot stain new wood right away. It needs to weather for 3+ monhts and then be cleaned.
I have some oil splatter around the grill on the deck. Is powerwashing with water sufficient or do i need to power wash with a detergent prior to applying PermaBond?
Pressure wash with water only.
how do i create a new acount
At checkout.
Your brochure says that the material is breathable and lets water evaporate. Does that also mean it lets water into the wood?
No, it does not.
Will this work for the paint?
BEHR Gloss Enamel Interior/Exterior Porch and Patio Floor Paint
As long as it is High Gloss Acrylic Latex, it will work. It can be a house paint and does not have to be a floor paint. It cannot be oil-based.
My Deck is old and weathered. It has an exisiting paint (unknown type) that has peeled off in many locations. Can i just power wash and use Permabond before applying revive?
Do you have instructional videos?
Yes, pressure wash off the loose and peeling paint for prep. We do not have an Instructional video.
What is the best way to protect the older deck boards while the replaced pressure treated boards are weathering prior to applying Deck Revive? Is it advisable to use a water sealant on the old boards to protect them for the next 3 months?
testing this
reply back for testing
I found PPG PERMANIZER® Exterior 100% Acrylic Latex paint that I like, however the the finish is only available in semi-gloss vs the “gloss” which is not indicative of high vs semi. As long as it is a gloss finish is does that meet warranted standards for the Deck Revive product?
It must be high gloss, not semi-gloss.
I read somewhere that I can purchase smaller kit? I may? need just a little more. Where can I purchase this?
We do not have a smaller kit anymore.
This is a great product, highly recommend. Applied last fall and weathered our rough winter perfectly.
Is it safe to power wash? What type of soap?
We would not heavy pressure wash but you could rinse it. Use TSP as a soap or anything that is mild.
Is this paint acceptable? It says paint and primer in one. Will the primer part be ok with Deck Revive?
Yes.
Try adding some of the Permabond into it to get it more liquid. FYI, the ratios are exactly the same for each kit. It is possible that you over-mixed it causing it to become thick.
My painter did not apply the PermaBond prior the Deck Revive. I’m pretty sure that they used their usual primer. Questions: 1) What is the best way to fix this? Does the Deck Revive need to be removed? How? 2) How does Deck Revive w/ standard primer compare to regular print?
I am thinking of just waiting until it starts to peel before having them re-doing it. Is that okay or is it better to do it right away?
The Permabond is the key to the effectiveness of the Deck Revive. It has to be used.
1. Nothing you can do about it now.
2. No way to say for certain but it may peel on you. You would have to sand it all off to fix if it does.
I’ve read every faq and each comment/response from the faq and Deck Revive Kit pages (all greatly appreciated!)
Am I correct on the suitability or not of the paints below—descriptions are from product pages and/or TDS. I put in ALL-CAPS terms that might be why a paint isn’t for use with Deck Revive:
Not? Ben. Moore Floor Patio WATERBORNE Acrylic URETHANE formulated with a <URETHANE-modified alkyd resin>
Not? PPG Floor & Porch Interior/Exterior Latex 100% acrylic floor and porch paint <URETHANE fortified>
Yes? Ben. Moore Impervex Latex High Gloss Enamel <PROPRIETARY Acrylic Latex> “quick-drying, high gloss enamel…with a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces.”
Yes? PPG Speedhide Interior/Exterior Latex <Our best interior/exterior 100% acrylic gloss> but note, “<It can be used on exterior trim, but NOT ON BODIES OF HOMES.>
Not? PPG Advantage 900 Interior/Exterior <STYRENE Acrylic WATERBORNE, very fast dry, acrylic enamel developed to have many characteristics of an alkyd enamel >
Yes? Sherwin Williams SuperPaint Exterior Acrylic Latex <with advanced acrylic resin technology > in Gloss or High Gloss
7. In a 2020 response, you said you’d use (#6) SW Superpaint over Behr Premium Porch and Patio Floor Paint Enamel (100% acrylic latex )—still true in 2023?
I truly thank you very much—our Revive Kits and PermBonds have arrived!
Yes, and it is fairly easy. It has to be an exterior acrylic water-based paint that is high gloss.
Can you recoat Deck Revive if still is good shape but just worn a bit (seems thinner less texture than when new) and just clean/wash deck, apply Permabond and then Deck Revive? If yes, still two coats or would one suffice?
Pressure wash to clean and apply Permabond when dry. One coat of the Deck Revive should work if using the same color.
My deck is 5 years old and in good shape. Do I need to use the permabond before the deck revive?
Yes.
Does the quart of latex paint that can be added to the Perma Bond primer need to be an exterior grade paint?
No need to add paint to ther PermaBond. Only needs to be added to the Deck Revive.
Can Deck Revive be applied to railings?
Yes.
Sure but sometimes it is easier to get a matching solid color deck stain for the verticals as the Revive can be overkill.
If I just apply a clear penetrating oil on the verticals, should it be applied before or after the Revive? I am concerned that if applied before, “extra” will seep into the deck and mess up correct application of the Revive?
You cannot apply a sealer before or after using the Deck Revive.
What I am asking is if I apply the penetrating oil to the verticals, I am afraid that some will drip on the deck, which the Revive will be used on. Is it better to apply the Revive on the Deck before or after the penetrating oil is applied to the verticals.
Probably does not matter as you should cover the deck, either way, to prevent the drips onto the surface.
Is it necessary to sand existing boards that have been stained with a oil base stain when using your perma – bond?
No. Just pressure wash.
1) Can Deck Revive be applied to railings?
2) How long do you have to wait to apply to new pine — 5 stairs risers were installed about 6 weeks ago. The next of the deck was constructed about last June.
3) Is there a special procedure for cleaning before the Permabond is applied?
Yes. 3 months. Pressure wash.
Is my deck even a candidate for this product or is it too far gone? I’m not quite sure where to start beyond trying to secure the loose boards and replace those that are warped. I can’t afford to replace the whole deck this year, but I’d like to get it to a better place. The structure below is still sound. It has stain on it now. Do I secure the boards with new nails and replace some of the worst boards, then pressure wash, then sand, and then use your product?
Thank you for any feedback.
You will need to replace those bad boards, let the new wood weather for 3 months, pressure wash, sand if needed, Permabond, then the Deck Revive.
Can paint be semi gloss ?
No, needs to be gloss paint. Once mixed into Deck Revive, it will not have a shine.
Hello ,
Before I order ..
1. my old deck has never been painted but is splintery should I sand it and then power wash or vice versa or just power wash ?
2. does the paint need to be gloss finish as many exterior paints in my local Home Depot are flat.
3. What should I fill
in holes with since perma fill
is out thank you
1. Pressure wash and then hand sand splinters.
2. Has to be gloss. HD has gloss exterior paints.
3. https://www.gulfsynthetics.com/ranger-patch-concrete-repair-kit.html
To be clear, your recommending we use the “ranger concrete repair” on wood?
Yes.
Can you use an acrylic deck stain as the color additive instead of paint …..so that the rest of the deck stain can be used for the railings and makes a better color match?
No, it must be gloss paint that is added to the Deck Revive. It will not be glossy once mixed and applied. Getting a matching deck stain color for the railings.
It says to mix one gallon of regular paint. Do we have to bring this to closest Home Depot or lowes for them to mix
You buy the acrylic latex gloss paint first and then mix it into the kit at home just before use.
Can I buy this product at a local store in 19085?
Online only.
I have a dock with Trex dark brown decking. It gets too hot to walk on in the summer. Looking for something to “paint on” to reduce the temperature. Will this stuff work? Any other suggestions appreciated.
Sorry but no, you cannot apply this to Trex.
I have an covered porch (western Oregon) approx. 600sq ft last painted with Olympic Deck rescue which is peeling. I need to recover the deck I plan on pressure wash light sand prime etc but all the previous coating will not be removed will this product work
You will need to fully remove the Olympic Rescue-It before switching to any brand as no “new” coating will fix the issues with the Olympic peeling.
I am looking at a 450 sqft deck, six steps, railings, and fascia trim. Can I get away with 2 DeckRevive and 2 Permabond?
No. You will need more than 2 Deck Revives as you have over 500 sq feet when you add up everything.
I have a 380sqft deck that was in very poor shape prior to purchasing the house. I found the permabond only covered about 200sqft, so I will need to order another bucket of that. I will just split my deck in half and complete one half first..
The instructions say the dry compounds should break down completely and the mixture smooth and viscous. My experience is that the mixture was still gritty and not smooth, no matter how long I mixed it. Did I do something wrong?
No. It is supposed to be gritty not smooth. Not possible for it to be smooth.
There was an unexpected rain shower the night after coating, is there a suggested fix if it got wet before 24 hour curing process finished?
it will be fine as long as it was dry before the rain came.
1) What is the shelf-life? I have 2 unused kits of deck revive left over from a project 4 seasons ago. Is the product still good to use, or will the chemistry “go bad” after a certain time?
2) I’m not sure whether it may have been exposed to freezing temperatures during that time. If it had, would that harm the liquid resin?
3) During that time, we lost one of the 5lb bags of dry chemistry. is it possible to order an individual bag?
4) Finally, I see on the permabond label that you can optionally add a quart of paint. Is this recommended? will it affect the adhesion properties of the product?
Thank you.
1. Shelf life is about 3 years so hard to say if good. Check the liquid to make sure it has a smooth consistency.
2. If it froze it is bad.
3. No, it is not.
4. No, do not add paint to it.
Ok, thank you. Is there any way to identify if it previsouly froze? Would it be evident by color or consistency? The liquid has a smooth milky consistency – no separation or coagulation.
It sounds like it may be fine but we cannot guarantee it.
Would this be appropriate for a plywood deck?
Yes.
In the instruction sheet, it notes:
“If you desire, rusty nails can be spot primed with a rust inhibitive primer
found at your local paint store. See manufacturers recommended rust inhibitive primer specification sheet.”
1. Where is the manufacturers recommended rust inhibitive primer specification sheet?
2. I assume this rust inhibitive primer should be applied prior to the PermaBond. Is this a step that I can do a couple days ahead of time or even a couple weeks?
Thank you!
1. We do not have one but any rust primer should work.
2. Apply it first. Does not matter when.
Thank you for the quick response.
I’m slowly chipping away at restoring my deck and hope to paint in late September, once the replacement boards I laid in July have a chance to weather and dry out. Most of my deck is old wood that I painstakingly removed what appears to be Behr Deckover from, which revealed some deep cracks and knots that need filling. I plan to use the recommended Quickrete to do this.
1. Can I fill with Quickrete now, nearly a month before applying DeckRevive?
2. Must I use Permabond as the primer for the quickrete step? I have not yet ordered my Deck Revive kit and Permabond and would like to be able to do this filling step now while I have some free time. If I can use another primer for this step, would you be able to recommend something?
3. Deck and stairs total to 315 square feet. I assume 2 Deck Revive kits, 1 gallon Permabond?
1. Yes.
2. Yes use the Permabond prior for best results.
3. Correct.
My deck is old and has paint on it from some 7-8yrs ago. I power washed the deck but not sure if I want to go thru removing the paint. Can the revive go on top of old painted deck?
Yes, you must use the Permabond first.
Can you use deck revive on vertical surfaces like railings? If not, do you recommend a product to use in junction with deck revive?
Yes, you can.
